Fashion Shoot for Luke 1977 November 5th, 2013
Here’s the results from a shoot earlier this year with British mens fashion brand Luke 1977. The brief was ‘SURVIVAL KIT’ with a nod to the great outdoors and surviving the elements. They had Brian ‘The Lion’ Rose current WBO Intercontinental and British Champion modeling for them and I found the location, an abandoned quarry in the welsh mountains, it was a hard, harsh environment to match Brian’s hard fists, they also had a Sky Sports camera man came along to film it all.
The Elinchrom RX Rangers where dragged up the hill for the job with a few Quadras thrown in for good measure, I shot the flash shots on the Nikon D800 and the natural light on the Nikon D4 using a 50mm f1.4
All in all it was a great shoot even if it was bloody freezing cold. Here’s what Luke had to say about the images:
“The outcome was amazing and he hit the brief bang on and within budget. Not only was the shoot conducted in a professional manner but the post production work was stunning and gave the images another dimension. We have had a very positive response to this campaign that has gone national through various media. Communication and enthusiasm was solid throughout and we look forward to working with Ross going forward.

Dare2b AW13 Photo Shoot with Driven Agency. September 26th, 2013
This time last year I was doing a shoot with the Driven Agency for Dare2b clothing Autumn/Winter 13 range. We shot it in Saas Fee, Switzerland for a week with fairly tricky weather and snow conditions through out, hence we used the Elinchrom Quadras quite a lot. I used the Nikon D800 for most of the non action and the flash action photo’s, but reached for the Nikon D4 for the skiing pictures and the nightlife photography.
Here’s a little video of the shoot below.
Local Produce Food Photo Shoot. June 19th, 2013
This was a nice little shoot I did this month with Stuart Phillips for The Hundred House, we went to Lodge Farm in Quatford to meet 3rd generation asparagus producers Caroline and Trevor Lee. We went out to the asparagus beds to see how it was harvested in special electric buggies, packaged and stored. Then is was back to the restaurant to shoot a tutorial piece for their blog with Stuart cooking asparagus risotto, which, I have to say tasted fantastic.
Fashion Photo Shoot for Apsley’s of Pall Mall June 13th, 2013
Here’s a few pictures from a shoot I did with Apsley’s of Pall Mall, the brief was to shoot some details shots of the shop, needle work and marking out, then shoot their suits with models, firstly against a concave background which we set up in the shop, then shoot using the shop as a background before moving outside to shoot in the street. I used the Nikon D800 and Elincrom RX 600 Style lights for the fashion shots in the shop, and the Nikon D4 for the detail work and the fashion pictures shot outside. The entire day was made a whole lot easier thanks to the splendid work of models Charlotte and Sam, who I have to say, are an absolute pleasure to work with
Here’s the cover shot from the Snow and Rock spring summer catalogue photo shoot that we shot last September in and around Chamonix, Courmayeur, Annecy and Geneva. The image was shot on a Nikon D800 camera with the AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II attached.

Mountain Warehouse Catalogue Photo Shoot AW14 March 31st, 2013
Here’s a couple of pictures from the Mountain Warehouse winter 2014 catalogue photo shoot, this year we worked out of #Morzine, but with absolutely shocking weather 2 days in we had to chase the sun and go to Alpe d’Huez for one day, we also went up to Les Get for a day and from there I shot a panorama using the Nikon D800, it’s eight shots stitched together and although it looks long and thin, the file is massive at around 800mb and when you zoom in you can see ski tracks on almost every peak.
Snow and Rock Spring / Summer 2013 Catalogue March 18th, 2013
This was possible one of the best shoots I’ve done for a while, it was for Snow and Rock and it all started in the awe inspiring Chamonix valley. We spent the week shooting in Geneva, Annecy, Chamonix and Italy and pretty much everything just fell perfectly into place, the crew where fantastic, the weather was sensational the autumn colours where just starting to kick in, the rainbows appeared on que and the pasta and coffee took some beating.
Alice Cooper @ Caprices Festival, Crans Montana. March 15th, 2013
I went to Crans Montana in Switzerland this month to shoot the Caprices music festival, a nine day affair which happily mixes music with skiing. On the bill for one of the nights we where there was legendary horror rocker Alice Cooper. It was arranged for me to shoot the whole show rather than the obligatory first two songs and I have to say Alice really knows how to put on a show, he pretty much blow the roof off the place, not to mention his sizzling lead guitarist Orianthi. I shot 50gb of pictures as the whole thing was so photogenic with 10ft Snakes and Frankensteins rolling around the place. The D4 handled the whole thing beautifully and D800 didn’t to badly either.
