We’ve been busy in the kitchen this month shooting some food stock photography, we focused on a few ingredients and produced a few dishes. We did some in natural light and some in the studio using flash. All good stuff really, the hardest part being not eating it all before it gets shot, that pork pie didn’t last long I can tell you

I was at the Hundred House Hotel this month doing some food photography for their Winter menu and Tapas starter, and I have to say it is wonderfully comforting experience, just the sort of thing after a long frosty winter walk. I used the D3x for this employing the 5.4 crop facility for a few shots which I find suits food photography quite well. I also popped into the kitchen and shot a few preparation and cooking shots.

I posted back in June about a shoot I did in Cork, Ireland for Singapore Airlines Silverkris in flight magazine, well happily we managed to get a front cover from the shoot which is great news, I’ve added a few more pictures below from the shoot, which went to places such as Ballymaloe House and Cookery School, Gubbeen Organic Farm, Longville House, The English Market in Cork, which is where the cover was shot, Kinsale, Clonakilty and various other producers and brewers. This month I was racing around the county of Cork on assignment for Singapore Airlines inflight magazine Silverkris. We where shooting the counties vibrant food culture from huge country houses to small organic farms. The article comes out in October so I’ll post more pictures then.

I did a few food stock pictures this month, I started with a trip to my local Cup Cake shop called Queenies, where they make equisite little cakes, which incidentally, also go down really well with a cup of tea afterwards. I also got my hands dirty and baked a couple of loafs of bread to shoot with some enamel bread and flour tins.

One of the best bits of advice I was ever given was “shoot what you love doing” and I have to say I do love eating. So here are a few images I’ve taken with Stuart Phillips, chef and patron at The Hundred House restaurant at Norton in Shropshire. I have to admit, I was close to tears when that treacle tart went back into the kitchen.
